Maximumrocknroll #257, October 2004
To answer your first question, the debut EP of this Umeå based band bear no sonic resemblance to DS13 or ETA, or to TOTALT JAVLA MORKER with whom they share members. Rather, KNUGEN FALLER are a female-fronted punk-pop band that bring to mind the bloodstain series, and that also seriously remind me of the RONDELLES with Swedish lyrics. In fact, the absolutly top-notch hooks and cheeky vocal melodies make this record the sleeper hit of this particular review cycle for me. I recommend you put down all of that cello-driven epic crust that you´re about to buy and give this a try instead - you will be much better off for it. What´s more, the cover photo boasts a photo of the band members in canvas sneakers... while standing in piles of snow! Totally punk!

Translation of Yelah.net review:
Unpertentious and accurate
Knugen Faller is a faily new band from Skellefteå that recently released a vinyl-EP with the title Skellefte Stadshotell on Wasted Sounds.
Totalt Jävla Mörker were reviewed here on Yelah not too long ago and there is a strong connection between these bands, they share several members. Knugen Faller is playing classical swedish pop-punk and the singer Anna Philipsson deliver political lyrics in swedish. Sometimes Knugen Faller reminds me of Doktor Kosmos, but with more punk.
The A-side of this 7" is dedicated to the members hometown Skellefteå and both the main hotel (First Hotel) and the socialdemocratic patriarch Lorenz Andersson get a verbal fist where they deserve it. The other side takes on conservative old men (Gubbe gubbe gubbe) and todays "democracy" without ever being pretentious and with accurate irony.
Everybody that is interested in swedish punk and want to hear what it´s like on a night at the hotel of Skellefteå (Skellefte Stadshotell) should buy this record from the Wasted sounds website.

DH, terminal-boredom.com:
"Pop punk" has lost any meaning it may have had, and has become a euphemism for "slickly produced, follow the template, shoot for the stars" rock. Frankly, there is nothing punk about it. Knugen Faller, from Umeå, Sweden, do not play that style of music. The songs on their EP are upbeat, undistorted tunes with female vocals sung in Swedish with tons of melody. Without being ultra-retro it wouldn't sound out of place among a stack of late 70's Swedish punk singles. "Demokrati" is the best song on the record, and one of the better songs I've heard anywhere in a while. It's an absolutely standout pop-punk song that should still be worth repeated listens ten years down the road.
